Photography Lessons from Day 1 of the Corfu, Greece Retreat marked the beginning of a journey that was both deeply personal and collectively powerful.
From arrival, this first day revealed how presence and intention can transform not only experiences but also the way I approach all of my photography sessions.
Before the women arrived, the facilitators and I spent several days in Corfu, settling into the energy of the villa and preparing each room with small, thoughtful touches.
Personalized gift bags, snacks, and energetically cleansing the space ensured that when the attendees arrived, they felt immediately seen and held.
When the women arrived, tired yet excited, we greeted them with laughter, snacks, and the joy of being together.
Together, we walked down to the Ionian Sea, letting the water welcome us into the retreat. This moment perfectly reflected the lesson of Day 1: grounding is the foundation for presence, expression, and connection.
The energy of arrival and grounding is not just about retreat experiences.
It mirrors what happens in photography sessions. Whether it’s a personal branding shoot, boudoir session, or motherhood session, transformation starts when someone fully arrives in their body and their story.
This first day taught me that creating a safe, intentional space allows clients to relax, trust the process, and show up authentically in front of the camera.
Photography becomes more than images, it becomes a reflection of their presence, boundaries, and confidence.
Our evening consisted of a sunset dinner, shared intentions for the week, and gentle movement to prepare our bodies for rest.
The air was warm and fragrant with salt, and emotions ran high with excitement, nerves, relief, and joy.
Lesson of Day 1: Slow down, hold your boundaries, and meet yourself exactly where you are. These lessons translate directly to how we show up in business: grounded, present, and authentic.
